Bangalore, June 22 (UNI) Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Mohd Najib Tun Hj Abdul Razak has commended public sector Bharat Electronics Limited for its state-of-the-art technology and hoped that his country could have a beneficial relationship with the company.

The dignitary, who visited the company yesterday, and the accompanying delegation evinced keen interest in Battle Field Surveillance Radar-Short Range, Coastal Surveillance System, Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Radar Warning Receiver manufactured by BEL, according to a release here today.

The Battle Field Surveillance Radar-Short Range was a portable, state-of-the-art ground-based radar for battlefield surveillance, developed indigenously by LRDE and manufactured by BEL. Besides supplying a large number of these radars to the Indian Army, BEL had exported it to Indonesia, the release said.

Having revolutionised the electoral process in the country with its EVMs, BEL had customised and demonstrated these to various countries like Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Turkey and Singapore. BEL could customise EVMs to suit the electoral requirements of Malaysia, the release said.

BEL Chairman and Managing Director Y Gopala Rao made a presentation about the company. Products of interest to Malaysia were highlighted during the presentation.
