LDF government has initiated changes: Convenor

Kottayam, June 22 (UNI) The Left Democratic Front (LDF) government has succeeded in initiating changes in welfare, education, Law and Order and other areas in the state, its Convenor Vaikom Viswam claimed today.

In a Meet-the-Press programme here, he asserted that the LDF government could definitely make development as promised in the election manifesto.

Referring to the criticism against the new Professional College Bill, he alleged that those who criticised its were spokespersons of the beneficiaries of commercialisation of the education sector.

Answering a question he said strikes would normally affect life and create a problem to people and the intention of the LDF was to minimise the problems of tourists and other sections.

Steps in this regard would be evolved through discussions, he added.

Asked about the necessity for a new probe into the ''Maithri Scam'' he said the findings of earlier probes were not complete.
