Karauli normal, prohibitory orders on

Jaipur, June 22 (UNI) Life is limping back to normal in Karauli although prohibitory orders have been imposed there till June 30.

Karauli Superintendent of Police, V K Pandey, told UNI over phone the situation in Karauli is under control and all markets are open today.

At least 500 Rajasthan Armed Constabulory jawans are still deployed in Karauli to maintain law and order.

Mr Pandey said six more people were arrested yesterday taking the total arrested to 150 people since sporadic violence erupted over alleged desecration of a religious book.

Trouble started on June 15 when a mentally deranged man smeared cowdung and wrote something objectionable on the religious book of a particular community at a tea stall.

Later there were incidents of arson, looting, stone pelting between people of both the communities.
