Srinagar, June 22 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government has released an amount of Rs six crores for the beautification of Jhelum embankments and adjoining parts of Srinagar city.

Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baigh took the decision today and asked the agencies involved with the rebuilding and beautification of Jhelum banks to complete the works within shortest possible time to restore the river to its pristine glory.

Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad had also convened a meeting to monitor the pace of work on Jhelum banks a week ago.

In another major decision, the Mr Baig, acknowleding the problems of the employees of J&K Industries (JKI), directed for release of Rs 121.80 crores twards meeting the expenses of the corporation, including salaries and other emoluments.

As a part of government policy of selling off the assets of the loss making corporations to meet their liabilities, Finance department would take over 15 kanals of land belonging to JKI for construction of Excise and Taxation complex there.
