Chennai, Jun 22 (UNI) Opposition AIADMK General Secretary and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today termed as 'drama' the alleged bid on the life of Local Administration Minister M K Stalin and questioned the high security cover to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

Talking to newspersons at the party headquarters here, she said the alleged bid on the life of Mr Stalin at Maduari Railway station was not at all convincing and ''people are laughing at the incident.'' It was only a prelude to avail ''Z'' category security cover and Mr Stalin, instead of staging the drama, could have asked for the enhanced security, she said.

When it was pointed out that police had launched an investigation into the incident, Ms Jayalalithaa wondered why the police was investigating when no such incident had taken place.

Taking serious exception to ''scaling down of her security,'' Ms Jayalalithaa dimissed as incorrect the claim that she was given the same kind of security, being provided to the Chief Minister.

There was no need for National Security Guard (NSG) cover to Mr Karunanidhi when he faced no threat from any extremist outfits, she said adding, she required enhanced security as she faced threats from many extremists organisations after she crushed them with an iron hand, when she was in power.

On the DGP's contention that her security was not scaled down, she said the Police officer had released a statement prepared by the State Government. The DMK Government had declared that it would not be vindictive, but on the first note, scaled down her security, she alleged.
