IT conclave e-Revolution 2006 on July 19 at Chandigarh

Chandigarh, June 22 (UNI) The city is all set to host the next international IT conclave 'e Revolutuion 2006,' on July 19 and 21, Secretary Information Technology (Union Territory) S K Sandhu, said here today.

Addressing the media, Mr Sandhu said the first e-Revolution last year provided a framework for guiding the IT initiative of the the states of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh in an integrated manner.

This year's event shall catapult the Chandigarh Capital Region (CCR), which has emerged as a cluster attracting many IT/ITES companies, into a knowledge hub.

The state government of Haryana and Punjab along with Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) are the major partners of E-revolution 2006 with NASSCOM, Chandigarh IT Club, and Society for Promotion of IT in Chandigarh (SPIC) as associates.

Mr Sandhu said this was a unique platform for all the three governments to address the common agenda-creating value in the business eco-system for IT-ITES industry as well as to explore oportunities for shared services in the national e-governance initiative.

On the first day, the plenary sessions by NASSCOM shall focus on the ICT potential of the northern states, particularly in the CCR (including Panchkula, Baddi and Mohali).

The sessions would also cover new thinking about innovation and effective strategies for emerging companies and industry.

The second day's focus is on striking the balance between effective service levels and cost-efficiency through shared services, an area of intense current interest to both multi-locational corporates and governments.

Mr Sandhu said e-Revolution 2006 shall also showcase CCR as a top achiever in the realm of e-governance in the country. It also espouses the advancement of the region as a whole by forging a common platform between governments, businesses, and by facilitating collaboration, he added.
