International fake currency racket busted, 3 held
Varanasi, June 22 (UNI) Police today busted an international fake currency racket with the arrest of three men and seizure of fake Indian and Nepali currency totalling Rs 2.75 lakh and Rs 2.06 lakh respectively.
Addressing newspersons here, SSP Ashutosh Pandey said acting on a tip-off, police nabbed Banne Khan and Chandra Prakash from Bhikaripur crossing, and seized fake currency totalling Rs 60,000 in the denomination of 500 and 100 rupee notes from their possession.
Later, on information provided by the duo, police raided a dwelling in Dhoopchandi area and busted the nerve-centre of the fake currency syndicate with the arrest of the king-pin, Satyendra Tewari.
Satyendra was arrested in the past also from Allahabad district for similar offence.
The SSP said the seizure included Rs 2,10,400 Indian and Rs 2,06,000 Nepali currency in fake, besides equipment and a revolver.
Investigations were on.
