Infinera unveils Digital Optical Networks for cable operators
Bangalore, June 22 (UNI) Infinera, the Digital Optical Networking systems provider to telecommunication carriers worldwide, today unveiled new capabilities to help cable operators migrate their networks to next-generation architecture and leverage the exploding demand for brandwidth and new services, including consumer triple-play and voice and data services business.
With this digital architecture for high-capacity transport, reconfigurable switching and fast provisioning, Infinera DTN would enable cable operators to create a simplified agile optical layer in their networks, positioning them to read quickly to growth or changes in demand patterns, according to a company release here.
Infinera DTN offered industry-leading density of 320 Gigabit ethernet ports in a single bay. It also supported point-to- multipoint service to deliver VoD and other advanced services. The point-to-multipoint capability enabled efficient distribution of services from a common head end, the release said.
Infinera Vice-President (Product Management) Chris Liou said ''unlike conventional DWDM solutions, Infinera's Digital Optical Networking architecture integrates the scalability of PICs, the flexibility of digital bandwidth management and the future-proofing of emerging high-speed bandwidth services.''
