Help desk at Indian embassy in Dubai

Dubai, June 22: Indian Community Benevolent Fund has been able to extend assistance to a large number of distressed Indians, after setting up a help desk at the Indian embassy premises in Qatar, an ICBF official said.

ICBF President Nilangshu Dey said the help desk, which was set up on May one, is handling distress cases of two to three persons per day seeking assistance.

At least 10 people were given tickets to travel home in the past fortnight. Most of them were victims of job rackets thriving in India and Qatar.

Mr Dey said there are 152 Indians, including 61 women, in immigration detention centres awaiting for clearance to travel home.
