Hasina, Dev Anand to get Mother Teresa Lifetime Achievement Award

Kolkata, June 22 (UNI) Former Bangladesh Prime Minister and Awami League president Shiekh Hasina and noted actor Dev Anand will receive the prestigious Mother Teresa Lifetime Achievement Award for their unmatched contribution in respective fields.

Instituted by the Mother Teresa International and Millenium Award Committee (MTIMAC) under the auspices of the All India Minority and Weaker Sections Council, the award would be given to both the recipients at a glittering function here on Saturday.

The award comprises a citation, a silver plaque and an 'uttarya'.

Announcing this, MTIMAC chairman Antony Arun Biswas said here today that both the dignitaries would arrive here tomorrow to receive the award personally.

Besides, he said Shiekh Hasina and Dev Anand, Prof Md Yunus, a renowned educationist of Bangladesh, would be conferred the Mother Teresa International Award on the same evening along with Union Minister of Minority Affairs A R Antulay. Sahara India's managing worker Subrata Roy would receive the Mother Teressa Millenium Award, he said.

Though former Team India captain Saurav Ganguly was selected for the Mother Teresa Millenium Award by the MTIMAC in the sports category, he has expressed his inability to receive the award personally as he is busy in English county matches.

However, former Olympian and noted footballer Chuni Goswami and tennis star Leander Paes have confirmed their participation in the award presentation ceremony.

12 other noted personalities in the field of education, social work, medicine and culture would also receive the Mother Teresa Millenium Award for 2005 on the same day, Mr Biswas informed.
