Govt has prepared draft bill on sexual harassment of women at work

New Delhi, June 22 (UNI) The Government has prepared a draft bill on sexual harassment of women at work place and is likely to introduce it in the coming monsoon session of Parliament.

The Women and Child Development Ministry has held consultation with the Law Ministry about the provisions of the bill which has recommendations of the National Commission for Woman (NCW).

The Union Cabinet will discuss the draft and is expected to give the approval to it soon, official sources said.

The Manmohan Singh Government has held a comprehensive review of the implementation of gender equality issues in the last two years and asked various ministries to speedup legislative measures to improve the condition of women.

The Prime Minister has drawn the attention of ministries towards the issues and expressed the hope that they will expedite legislative action.

''Gender equality and women's empowerment are two very important issues enshrined in the National Common Minimum Programme and the Government is committed to it,'' they added.
