Fresh landslide at Sonarpur: vehicular movement disrupted

Agartala, Jun 22 (UNI) Heavy landslides at Sonarpur in Meghalaya has again affected traffic movement on NH 44 connecting Tripura and the rest of the state even as vehicular traffic was restored only three days ago after remaining cut off for nearly nine days.

Sources in the Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) said the alternate route, which was opened near the bridge, had been damaged following the fresh landslides yesterday.

Vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the bridge. All passengers, including women and children, travelling from Agartala to Guwahati has been facing problems as the buses had been grounded at Dharmanagar.

However, a BRTF official informed that the road would be restored very soon.
