Fresh batch of 1682 pilgrims leave for Amarnath
Jammu, June 22 (UNI) A fresh batch of 1682 pilgrims left today for the holy pilgrimage to Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir amid tight security in the wake of recent threats and attacks on devotees.
The group, which left from the base camp of MAM stadium Jammu here, included 1008 men, 428 women, 87 children and 159 'sadhus', officials said.
Despite threats and attacks from terrorist outfits, a huge number of pilgrims are coming forward for 'Darshan' of ice Lingam of Baba Amarnath at the holy cave of Himalaya.
The pilgrims left in a fleet of 66 vehicles from the stadium at 0500 hrs today, the officials said.
Around 25,000 pilgrims have left for the pilgrimage from here since the 'yatra' commenced on June 10.
