ELCOT to develop an IT park in Coimbatore

Coimbatore, Jun 22 (UNI) The Centre has granted formal approval for setting up a special economic zone for Information Technology (IT) and IT enabled services at Vilankurichi here, Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT) Managing Director C Uma Shankar said today.

Talking to newspersons, Mr Shankar said the proposed IT park which would be developed by the ELCOT as a joint venture would have a built up area of five million square feet on an 11.76 hectare site.

He said the ELCOT which proposes to have an 11 per cent share in the joint venture was scouting for a private partner to develop the park.

The construction would be completed within a period of 24 to 30 months once the deal was finalised, he added.
