Delhi Police Sub-Inspector arrested for raping a 23-yr-old

New Delhi, Jun 22 (UNI) In a big blow to the Delhi Police's image a Sub-Inspector of its Crime Branch has been arrested for allegedly raping a 23-year-old in Rohini area of North-West Delhi early morning today.

Sub-Inspector K B Jha, associated with the Delhi Police's Anti-Homicide Cell (Crime Branch) at Prashant Vihar, was arrested at 0330 hrs today after the girl called the PCR, according to a senior police officer.

He was drunk and at the victim's place when caught by the 'friend' of the victim, with whom she had a live-in relationship for the past nearly three months.

The victim, who lived in Rohini with Rajkumar, alleged that Jha would often threaten her and try to extort money on the pretext of living illegally together.

A native of Kolkata, the victim had come to Delhi from Mumbai, where she reportedly worked as a bar dancer.

Rajkumar, who is married and lives in Jehangirpuri, is a small time transporter.

A case has been registered at Prashant Vihar police station and Jha dismissed, police added.
