CVN Kalari 'Chikilsakendaram' celebrating golden jubilee

Kottayam, June 22 (UNI) The golden jubilee celebrations of the famed CVN Kalari Chikilsakendram at Champakara here would be held with various programmes on June 26 and 27.

It is believed that 'Kalarippayat' was introduced by warrior saint Parasurama. He established 108 'Kalaries' and taught the art of martial training to a chosen band of 21 disciples in order to protect Kerala. Lord Parasurama and his disciples were worshipped in 'Kalaries.' 'Kalarichikilsa' is a system of medicine based on Ayurveda, specialising in treatment of orthopaedic disorders, sports injuries and neuro-muscular problems like back pain, spondylosis, arthritis and inborn imperfection of human body. Uzhichil, Kizhithirummu and Nasyam are the different treatment methods used in Kalarichikilsa.

Nair Service Society (NSS) general secretary P K Narayana Panicker would inaugurate the celebrations and Bharathiya Vicharakendram Director P Parameswaran the valedictory session.
