Ranchi, Jun 22 (UNI) The Jharkhand CPI(ML) today reiterated their demand for dropping the case of 'attempt to murder against party General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya and said their proposed road-blockade on June 26 would be held for two hours only.

Party's state secretary Subhendu Sen told a press conference here that their agitation would be held phase-wise, keeping in mind public inconvenience.

'' So we will block the road for two hours and different district committees would decide on their schedule of the blockade accordingly,'' he said.

The CPI(ML) leader said they will hold a three-day central committee meeting from June 25, where they would deliberate on their next phase of action, adding the final decision would be taken at the state-level committee meeting to begin on July ten.

Earlier, the party had warned that they would intensify the agitation if the government did not listen to their pleas. Mr Sen said their recently concluded three-day statewide demonstration did not trigger any response from the government, adding the party now decided to stage a symbolic blockade on June 26.

Mr Bhattacharrya was arrested on March 2001, following a demonstration that turned violent in front of the Assembly. Party activists were protesting against police firing at Tapkara.

The police also framed a case charging the leader with attempt to murder.

Last month a delegation of the party had met Chief Minister Arjun Munda and submitted a memorandum demanding withdrawal of the case against Mr Bhattacharya.
