CBSE announces June 26 as fresh date for MBBS, BDS counselling

New Delhi, June 22 (UNI) A day after the Supreme Court allowed the CBSE to revise its merit list for MBBS and BDS admissions, the Board today announced that counselling for the courses will resume from June 26.

The Board, in a statement, said the revised merit list has been forwarded to the Directorate General of Health Services, which is the official agency to conduct the counseling of students.

''The fresh counselling will resume from June 26, as per the guidelines of the Supreme Court,'' it added.

CBSE had detected discrepancies in the merit, wait list in response to a representation from a candidate.

The schedule for the second round of counselling for allotment of seats will remain unchanged.

Yesterday, the Apex court's vacation bench, comprising Justices A R Lakshmanan and Altamas Kabir, ordered cancellation of the counselling which has already been done.

The order came on a petition filed by CBSE which has prepared a merit list for 15 per cent All India Quota for Admission to MBBS and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) courses.
