ARBL registers growth rate of 66 per cent

Chennai, Jun 22 (UNI) Industrial and Automotive Battery major Amara Raja Batteries Ltd (ARBL) has registered impressive growth with revenues for FY 2005-06 soaring by 66 per cent to Rs 4.46 billion.

It was Rs 2.68 billion during the year ending March 31, last year.

For the year, the Profit Before Tax shot up by 175 per cent to Rs 373.46 mm and Profit After Tax 174 per cent to Rs 238.47 mm.

Buoyed by the continuing business growth in Industrial and Automotive Batteries, ARBL is confident of keeping top line and bottom line growth in the coming year as well.

Mr Jayadev Galla, Managing Director, ARBL said "FY '06 has been a very exciting year for us with growth in top line, market share, profits and in capacity as well.

"We commenced automotive battery business with a capacity of one million units per annum and in a short span of five years would be scaling up 300 per cent to 3.6 mm units per annum. We would also be expanding Industrial Battery capacity by nearly 50 per cent from 20 mm AH to 29 mm AH per month in FY 07'', he added.
