Antique gold coins belong to Vijayanagar, Gosaliya Empires: Expert
Palakkad, June 21 (UNI) Archaeological experts, who examined the antique gold coins and a chain recovered from a person recently, have found they belonged to the 16th and 18th centuries during the Vijayanagar and Gosaliya Empires.
The experts led by Public Relation Officer Hemanthakumar said the coins, found in five types, had image of a lion on one side and a pig on the other.
They were used for trade purpose about 400 years ago and belonged to the ''Rasi'' Department.
The age and value would be determined exactly after a detailed study, he said.
The police had seized 43 antique gold coins and a chain from a person who got them from a forest in Malampzha while cuttting bamboo.
