1,800 volunteers change party

Chennai, Jun 22 (UNI) About 1,800 volunteers of the ruling DMK, Congress, BJP, PMK, CPI, Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) and Veeravanniyar Peravai today quit their parties and joined the All India Anna DMK (AIADMK).

The volunteers, who included 200 women, joined the party in the presence of AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa at the party headquarters here.

Those who joined the party included former Salem District Youth Congress Secretary C S Bavanirajan, PMK Salem District Legal Advisor K Arjunan, BJP General Council Member P V Ramkumar, CPI Salem Municipality Councillor A Gopu, Tiruvannamalai former DMK Office Bearer A Govindaraj and Radhapuram Congress functionary K P K Selvaraj.
