1,618 bags of Food-for-Work rice seized

Davangere, Karnataka, June 22 (UNI) Police today seized 1,618 bags of rice, meant for distribution under the Centrally-sponsored Food-for-Work scheme, stored illegally at Harihara, about 15 km from here, and arrested ten persons in this connection.

Police said that based on a tip off, a police team from Davangere raided a private saw mill and effected the seizure. The rice bags, worth Rs 6.54 lakh, were kept ready to be smuggled out.
