Will Jupiter shut its eye?

Indore, June 21 (UNI) The beautiful 'eye' -- of the Solar System's largest planet Jupiter -- which 'opened' six years back, might 'close' on July 4 at 1800 hrs IST.

''This 'eye' is scientifically known as Red Spot Junior and twice came rather close to the planet's Great Red Spot,'' said Physics professor Ram S Shrivastava.

The Great Red Spot, visible with an ordinary telescope, has wind speeds of hundreds of km per hour. The Red Spot Junior, which is of the Earth's size, is also a mobile storm zone and would merge with the Great Red Spot on July 4.
