UP guv awards mango grower for research

Lucknow, June 21 (UNI) Taking time out from his busy schedule, Uttar Pradesh governor T V Rajeswar today visited Mallihabad mango orchards near the state capital.

The governor, accompanied by his wife, visited the mango garden of Haji Kalim Ullah Khan and his 90-year-old tree, which gives 300 varieties of mangoes.

He announced a Rs 25,000 award to Mr Khan to continue his research in mango grafting and plantation.

On the occasion, the governor gave patient hearing to the problems of mango growers and assured to sort out their problems.

He said more reasearches should be conducted for producing better quality mango and effort should be made to grow prominent varieties, which are grown in other parts of the country.

Narrating their problems, the mango growers apprised the governor of their problems for maintaining the mango groves.
