Ahmedabad, June 20 (UNI) State-owned Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL) will distribute Rs 50 crore allotted for infrastructure development almost equally among the 25 districts in the state as the best way to do justice to all.

The funds would be utilised by district tourism committees under the supervision of the collector for providing approach road, drinking water, toilet, electricity, landscaping and such facilities at select places, says a TCGL release here today.

Even as the Gujarat Government decided to observe this year as the 'Year of Tourism', it allotted Rs 50-crore to provide basic facilities at ''important places of tourism'' in the state through a gazette notification on May 22.

As if there is a quota system for equanimous distribution of funds for tourism, irrespective of their importance, TCGL apparently tried to please every district with allotments, ranging from Rs 1.50 crore to Rs 3 crore.

The maximum amount of Rs 3 crore has been earmarked for Junagadh, Kutch, Dangs and Ahmedabad. Vadodara and Surat have got Rs 2.50 crore each, the rest was distributed among the 19 other districts.
