Six pilgrims of Varanasi killed in accident in Punjab

Fatehgarh Sahib, June 21 (UNI) Six pilgrims from Uttar Pardesh were killed and two others injured in an accident near Mandi Gobindgarh town of the district today.

Police reports here said a jeep carrying the pilgrims from Vaishno Devi shrine was on its way to Varanasi (UP), when it rammed into a truck parked on the roadside near Sardar Nager village near Mandi Gobindgarh.

The deceased were identified as Anand Kumar Verma(35), Babarasm Shalla Devi(58), Rajesh Pandey (35), Sanjay Anand, Mohinder Patel and Paras Kumar Patel, all residents of Varanasi.

The jeep driver Sanjay Barjesh and Anita Singh, both residents of Varanasi were injured. While Anita was admitted to Civil Hospital, Mandi Gobindgarh. The driver due to his critical condition was refered to DMC, Ludhiana.
