Rymbai appoints nine Parliamentary Secretaries

Shillong, June 21 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister J D Rymbai today appointed nine MLAs as Parliamentary Secretaries to assist his newly formed Council of Ministers.

At simple function at the conference hall of the main secretariat here, Mr Rymbai administered oath-of-office and secrecy to the nine Legislators in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Donkupar Roy, his Cabinet colleagues, state Chief Secretary S K Tewari and other senior government officials.

The MLAs, who were appointed as Parliamentary Secretaries, were Samuel Sangma (Cong), Lambor Malangiang (KHNAM), Nehlang Lyngdoh (Cong), Stanlywiss Rymbai (Cong), B B Nongsiej( UDP), Riang Lenon Tariang (UDP), J A Lyngdoh (UDP), Clement R Marak (UDP) and Francis P R Sangma (Ind).

Talking to newsmen on the backdrop of the swearing-in ceremony, Chief Minister J D Rymbai said the MLAs were inducted as Parliamentary Secretaries mainly to assist the Ministers.

'' If we leave them out, there might be a temptation to raise motion and question the government in the floor of the House, '' Mr Rymbai said adding the swearing-in of Parliamentary Secretaries was a routine one.
