Rymbai appoints eight Parliamentary Secretaries
Shillong, June 21 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister J D Rymbai today appointed eight MLAs as parliamentary secretaries to assist his newly formed council of ministers.
At simple function at the conference hall of the main secretariat here, Mr Rymbai administered oath-of-office and secrecy to the eight legislators in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Donkupar Roy, his cabinet colleagues, state chief secretary S K Tewari and other senior government officials.
The MLAs, who were appointed as parliamentary secretaries includes Samuel Sangma (Cong), Lambor Malangiang (KHNAM), Nehlang Lyngdoh (Cong), Stanlywiss Rymbai (Cong), BB Nongsiej( UDP), Riang Lenon Tariang (UDP), J A Lyngdoh (UDP) and Francis P R Sangma (Ind).
Talking to newsmen after the swearing-in ceremony, the Chief Minister said the MLAs were inducted as parliamentary secretaries mainly to assist the ministers.
''If we left them out there might be a temptation to raise motions and question the government in the floor of the house'', Mr Rymbai said adding that the swearing-in of parliamentary secretaries was a ''routine one.'' UNI RRK TJP VD1545
