RCF to manufacture 1,312 coaches this year
Kapurthala, Jun 21 (UNI) The Railway Coach Factory (RCF), after achieving a record production of 1263 coaches during 2005-2006, has set a target of manufacturing 1,312 coaches during the current year.
Talking to reporters here today, RCF General Manager Pratap Srivastava said that against the previous year's production of 1201 coaches, the factory in the last fiscal had achieved an all time high production figure of 1263 coaches which included 257 conventional air conditioned(AC) coaches and 51 LHB Alstom designed coaches.
Mr Srivastava said that RCF had rolled out five rakes of LHB-Alstom for plying between New Delhi and Mumbai as Rajdhani and August Kranti Expresses and three rakes for Eastern Railway for running between New Delhi and Kolkata.
Besides this the factory also manufactured 22 rakes of MEMU/MC coaches for suburban traffic and 22 AC coaches for an Army Special train during the year.
With this, RCF had so far manufactured a total of 16,639 coaches till March this year.
During the current fiscal, the factory had been working with target to roll out 1312 coaches, including 148 LHB Alstom designed coaches for domestic requirement and 70 LHB Alstom coaches for export market, Mr Srivastava said.
The current year's target included four rakes of Air Conditioned Garib Raths to be run between Hazrat Nizamuddin-Patna, Hazrat Nizamuddin-Chennai, Hazrat Nizamuddin-Bandra(Mumbai) and Saharsa-Amritsar.
The first Garib Rath rake would be roll out by October next, he added.
