Rain Gods bless Kolkata with smart shower

Kolkata, June 20 (UNI) Prayers by the people of Kolkata for rain at last reached the Rain Gods.

The city today experienced a smart shower in the afternoon.

People seemed to breathe a sigh of relief after battling through the hot and humid climate since past few days.

There are chances of rainfall late in the afternoon even, Met office sources said.

The Met office has said the weather is expected to remain pleasant for the next 48 hours as there is a possibility of the weak monsoon current over Kolkata getting stronger.

They also said the south Bengal is likely to remain cloudy, due to the cyclonic circulation over Bay of Bengal and this has started reviving the monsoon current over Gangetic Bengal.

"Kolkatans may experience scattered rainfall during next 24 hours," said G C Debnath, Director Regional Meteorological Centre, Alipore.
