Pravin Joshi first martyr of Gujarat's fight for Narmada: BJYM

Ahmedabad, June 20: Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha (BJYM) general secretary Amit Thaker today described Pravin Joshi, who died ten days after immolating himself over 'Fanaa' controversy , as the first martyr of Gujarat in its fight over Sardar Sarovar Dam Project (SSP) on the Narmada river.

Thaker expressed his heartfelt condolences and assured all possible help from Yuva Morcha to the bereaved family.

It was because Aamir Khan had joined ''anti-dam bandwagon'' led by Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) activist Medha Patkar during her hunger strike in Delhi that people of Gujarat had spontaneously decided to boycott the film too, he said.

Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly and senior Congress leader Arjun Modhvadia also expressed his sorrow at the tragic and untimely death of young Pravin Joshi.
