Power Minister to visit Japan and South East Asia
New Delhi, Jun 21 (UNI) Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and Secretary R V Shahi will leave for Japan, Singapore and Malaysia tonight for a seven-day visit mainly to conduct road-shows and attract foreign investors for the country's upcoming ultra -mega power projects.
The visit of the Indian delegation that will end on June 28, will target, along with apex business chamber FICCI, investment firms, investors, technology providers in clean coal technologies, extra high voltage transmission and distribution technologies.
In Japan, Mr Shinde who will visit Tokyo and Osaka is expected to meet officials of funding agencies, Japan Bank of International Co-operation and Mitsui Sumitomo Financial Group, besides corporate giants like Itochu Corporation, Marubeni Corp and Sumitomo Corp.
This tour comes close on the heels of Mr Shinde's visit to the US, Canada, European countries including the UK and Germany, China and Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand mainly to attract investors in the upcoming ultra mega power projects in the country.
Power Finance Corporation, Chairman and Managing Director V K Garg is also accompanying the Minister.
