Bangalore, June 21 (UNI) The city police will beef up security to tackle possible terrorist attacks on the city, new Commissioner of Police Neelam Achyuta Rao said today.

Speaking to mediapersons soon after taking charge from Mr Ajai Kumar Singh, he said the anti-terrorist squad, already in operation in the city, would be further strengthened to tackle terrorist threats like the one on the prestigious Indian Institute of Science campus last December.

The official said new measures would be initiated to ease traffic related problems that motorists faced in the garden city.

Bangalore, which had 18 lakh vehicles, had one of the highest density of private vehicles in the country and traffic management remained a challenging problem for the police force. Everyday 900 new vehicles hit the roads in the city.
