Pol Comm says info on officer's wife smuggler links sought from DRI

New Delhi, June 21 (UNI) Police Commissioner K K Paul today said the Delhi Police had sought information from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in connection with the alleged links of the wife of DCP (Special Cell) Ajay Kumar with a smuggler recently arrested by the DRI.

''We have sought information from the DRI on the matter and are looking into the case.'' Declining to comment further, Mr Paul said the case was with the DRI and they would be better informed to comment on the developments.

Earlier, Jt Commissioner (Special Cell) Karnal Singh said the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) was the right agency to contact in connection with the case.

Refusing to offer his comments on the case, Mr Singh said as the case was with the DRI, they would be in a better position to say something on it.

DCP Ajay Kumar also declined to comment when contacted.

Mr Kumar had come into focus after it was revealed that his wife allegedly was a business associate of a smuggler, Ashwini Aggarwal, who was arrested by DRI officials last week from Mussoorie, along with his son, and had been earlier booked under the COFEPOSA.
