Paramilitary forces deployed in Karauli

Jaipur, June 21 (UNI) Paramilitary forces have been deployed in Karauli as tension continues to simmer in the town following an outrage between the two communities over disrespect shown to a religious book.

Although the police claimed the situation is under control today, the patrolling continues in the town. Around 200 jawans of paramilitary force and 20 officials have been sent to Karauli.

Prohibitory orders under Section 144 have also been promulgated in the town as looting and arson continued for the second day yesterday.

The police said 29 people have been arrested in connection with looting, arson and disrupting peace. People of two particular communities took out rallies and there were incidents of stone pelting, looting and arson yesterday.
