No need for YSR Reddy to resign: Cong

New Delhi, June 21: The Congress today rejected the demand for the resignation of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in the light of Andhra Pradesh High Court order yesterday, quashing the notification for holding elections to the Panchayats.

''There is no question of the resignation of the Chief Minister,'' Congress spokesperson Jayanti Natarajan told reporters.

In a breather to the Andhra Pradesh Government, a division bench of the High Court today allowed the election process to continue while posting for tomorrow hearing on the appeal of the State Election Commission which has challenged the verdict by a single Judge of the court.

Replying to questions on the opposition demand for Mr Reddy's resignation, Ms Natarajan said she was sure the Chief Minister was addressing the issue.
