Sex racket: No immediate action against Mir
New Delhi, Jun 21: The Congress today ruled out immediate action against former Jammu and Kashmir Minister Ghulam Ahmed Mir, a senior state party leader involved in the sex racket case in that state.
''Action will be taken against the guilty once the matter has reached any conclusion,'' party spokesperson Jayanti Natarajan told reporters.
At present, the matter was sub judice and the Congress ''wants justice to be done,'' Ms Natarajan said.
Mr Mir was arrested here yesterday in connection with the sex racket case in which several political leaders are accused.
Replying to questions, the spokesperson said the case was registered at the instance of the Congress-PDP government in Jammu and Kashmir and the UPA government at the Centre.
''A fair inquiry will be held'' into the racket which was not a overnight development, she said.
