Nine killed, 33 injured in accident on Jammu-Srinagar highway

Jammu, June 21 (UNI) At least nine people were killed and 33 other injured when a minibus, carrying more than 40 passengers, collided with a truck on the Jammu-Srinagar highway this evening.

Police sources said the incident took place two km away from Batote in Jammu region at 1643 hrs. Seven passengers died on the spot. The rescue operation has already started.

Eight of the deceased have been identified as Atitya Nawaz, Salama, Parshuram, R C Sharma, Abdul Rashid, Gaznafar Ali, Mohammad Ayaz and the truck driver Shah Mohammad.

All the injured, some critically, have been admitted to Goverment Medical College Hospital (GMCH) here.
