NCB officer arrested for taking bribe
New Delhi, Jun 21 (UNI) The CBI has arrested an Intelligence Officer of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), posted at Chandigarh, while accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 to help an accused in a drug related case.
Ravikant Panwar, posted at Chandigarh region office of the NCB, was arrested from a restaurant in Sector 15 while accepting the bribe, according to the CBI here.
The officer had allegedly approached the complainant to who was arrested in February last year in an NDPS case along with two foreigners, during trial in tendering evidence of witnesses in his favour in the court.
He had also threatened that in case of non-payment of bribe he would forfeit his land and his relatives harrassed.
Investigation into the case was continuing.
