Munda makes veiled attack on Babulal on corruption issue

Ranchi, Jun 21 (UNI) With Jharkhand Vikash Morcha president Babulal Marandi making statements favouring a mid-term poll in Jharkhand, Chief Minister Arjun Munda today broke silence saying ''people send representative for a particulalr tenure which his government would complete''.

Mr Munda without NAnaming Mr Marandi, who last month resigned from BJP's preliminary membership last month, said some people were raking up corruption issues to earn ''cheap'' popularity.

In the past few days Mr Marandi had been addressing public gathering and charging the BJP-led NDA government in the state of indulging in financial irregularities.

''People send us for five years and not for mid-term elections,'' Mr Munda told reporters at Hazaribagh on the sidelines of the oath taking ceremony of 221 recruits of Indian Reserve Battalion at Border Security Force Training College.

''Poeple with vested interests are trying to create situation for mid-term poll but we will complete five years,'' he said.

Regarding allegation of slow development, he said the government had specific plan for developmental projects which must get the required time for implemnetation.

Mr Munda said that all the projects undertaken by his government would be completed in the stipulated time.

On June 19, the Jharkhand Vikas Dal reacted strongly to state Finance Minister Raghuvar Das statements that termed the regional political parties as the ''roots of corruption''.

JVD president and former MP Suraj Mandal said Mr Das was himself in the BJP-led NDA government in the state that still continued to be in power with the support of regional parties only.

The Finance Minister's statement followed a statement by JVM president Babulal Marandi's allegation that the national parties could not gauge the aspirations of the local people and hence regional parties needed to be strengthened.

With allegation and counter-allegation, the JVD alleged Mr Das should not have said so since the BJP was involved in many financial irregularities.

Mr Mandal said the ministerial chair enjoyed by Mr Raghuvar Das was due to support of regional political parties to the NDA government.
