Man throws year-old nephew into well over property feud
Vadodara, Jun 21 (UNI) In a shocking incident, an adivasi threw his one-year-old nephew into a well in opposition to a proposal of his elder brother to share a piece of agricultural land with their step-brother.
The accused Jayanti Rathod, who was dead against the claim of his step-brother, Chiman Mangu, for an equal share over a four-acre plot of farm land in dispute, threw his nephew Rajesh, son of his elder brother Ajit Rathod, in a well in Ghamodi village in the tribal-dominated Chhota-udepur taluka of the district on Monday night, after Ajit agreed to Chiman's demand.
In a complaint registered with the Rangpur police station, the deceased baby's mother Savita said her brother-in-law Jayanti picked up her son, who was sleeping on the varanda, and threw him into a nearby well after both the brothers had an argument over the land issue.
Chhota-udepur police was still looking for the accused, who fled from the village immediately after murdering his nephew.
