Kumaraswamy reposes faith in fresh talent

Bangalore, June 21 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy seems to have favoured fresh talent while expanding his Cabinet, with six of the eight Ministers inducted today adorning the seats of power for the first time.

Except former Deputy Chief Minister M P Prakash and Mr H D Revanna, son of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda and brother of Mr Kumaraswamy, this was their maiden tryst with ministership for all the others.

Most of the new entrants were also farmers by profession.

Mr Prakash, born on July 11, 1940, held a Post Graduate in Art and was an Advocate by profession. He became the Deputy Chief Minister in the first-ever Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) coalition Government in the State. Besides, he had held the portfolios of Transport and Labour (Independent charge), Agriculture, Tourism, Kannada and Culture, Panchayati Raj, Rural Development and Information under various Chief Ministers.

He had also served as the Bangalore Development Authority Chairman during late Chief Minister Ramakrishna Hegde's regime.

Mr Revanna was born on December 1957. This was the second time he became minister, after serving as PWD and Power minister in the previous Congress-JD(S) Government. also He is President of the Karnataka Milk Federation.

Mr H K Kumaraswamy, born on May 31, 1955, was an Advocate by professon and a coffee planter. He had served as Karataka Slum Clearance Board Chairman.

Mr S V Ravindranath, born on November 11, 1946, was a science graduate and a farmer by profession.

Sixty-three-year-old Revunayak Belamagi was a farmer by profession and a social worker.

JD(S) General Secretary Jamir Ahmed Khan, born on August one, 1966, operated a transport business.

Mr Shashikanth Akkappa Nayak, born on April one, 1960, was a farmer by profession. He is Indian Rural Development Board Chairman, Sangama Cooperative Sugar Factory Director and Bangalore Sugar Foundation Director.

Mr Shivananda Nayak, born on December six, 1962, was an agriculturist, horticulturist and a social worker.
