KSU march turns violent, several injured

Thiruvananthapuram, June 19 (UNI) Chandy Oomen, son of former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, and some activists of the Kerala Students Union (KSU) were injured when police used water cannons against them here today.

The incident occurred when the police blocked a march of the pro-Congress KSU activists protesting against the education policy of the Left Democratic Front government to the office of the Deputy Director of Education.

When the protestors moved ahead breaking the barricades, police used water cannons to disperse them.

According to a report from Kannur, five police officials, including a DSP and a Circle Inspector, were injured in stone throwing by the KSU workers.

Four student activists were also injured.
