KSU march turn violent, several injured

Thiruvananthapuram, June 19 (UNI) Former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy's son Chandy Oommen and some other Kerala Students Union (KSU) activists were injured when police used water cannon against them here today.

The incident ccurred when the police blocked a march of the pro-Congress KSU activists against the education policy of the Left Democratic Front government to the office of the Deputy Director of Education.

When the activists moved ahead breaking the barricades, police used water cannons to disperse them.

According to a report from Kannur, five police officials, including a Dy SP and a Circle Inspector, were injured in stone throwing by the KSU workers. Four student activists were also injured.
