ING Vysya employees contribute Rs 35 lakh to UNICEF

Bangalore, June 21 (UNI) ING Vysya employees have contributed Rs 35 lakh to UNICEF to enable 2,500 child workers in Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts of Tamil Nadu to return to school.

The funds, raised under an internal initiative called 'Back to School', supported ING's global community development initiative -- ING Chances for Children, under which it was aimed to educate 50,000 children in three countries, including India, according to a company release here today.

ING Vysya Bank Managing Director and CEO Vaughn Richtor and ING Vysya Life Managing Director and CEO Frank Koster handed over the cheque to Thomas George of UNICEF India.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Koster said ''by providing children with a proper education, ING can help these children manage their own future. Through local community development initiatives involving ING Vysya employees together with organisations such as UNICEF, the ING Chances for Children programme aims to contribute to the goal of achieving primary education for all children.''
