ICC to act as catalyst for FDI
Mumbai, June 21 (UNI) Indian Chemical Manufacturers Association with the aim to make Indian chemical industry a significant global player through sustainable technological advances and collaboration has renamed itself the 'Indian Chemical Council' (ICC) with effect from June 20.
''It is an attempt to broaden the membership of the association by renaming it as a council a it is a much bigger body and captures everything. Renaming will help to interact with bigger bodies around the globe, especially US and European Chemical manufacturing associations and councils,'' Chairman SHE Expert Committee, Infrastructure Expert Committee and associated with the ICC, S K Hazra said.
''By contributing 14 per cent to the GDP ICC aims to do more to the industry by acting as a catalyst to attract investments in the Indian Chemical industry, not only foreign but even from domestic investors,'' Mr Hazra said.
According to ICC President D C Mehta, ''ICC will be a first stop resource base for chemical industry.'' The companies which would go according to the guidelines issued regarding good manufacturing practices will be presented 'Responsible Care Award' of rupees one lakh by the sponsors Aditya Birla Group, Mr Mehta added.
