Highway robbers strike with toy gun

Aizawl, Jun 21 : About 10 armed miscreants, clad in army camouflage and possessing toy guns, robbed four Sumo maxi cabs going towards Silchar-Mizoram-Asom border area between Panibora and Kaburganju under Dholai Police station in Cachar district last night.

Kolasib district additional superintendent of police Lalremmuana said a police team led by Vairengte officer in-charge rushed to the scene immediately but the robbers fled away with the vehicles.

However, the vehicles were recovered at Dholai road today with four toy guns, he said adding the highway robbers took away money and jewellery from the passengers.

A meeting between Kolasib SP and Silchar (Asom) SP had earlier resolved that passenger vehicles should avoid this road in the night because of the high incidence of robberies in the area.
