HC issues notice to BCCI on PIL against Lalit Modi
Mumbai, June 21 (UNI) Bombay High Court today issued notices to the BCCI to file an affidavit in four weeks, in response to a PIL seeking court direction to the board to cancel Lalit Kumar Modi is appointment as its vice-president, as he allegedly had a criminal background.
Division bench comprising Chief Justice Kshitij Vyas and Justice Abhay Oka issued notices while hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by a cricket fan--Chandervardhan Parekh--alleging that Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice president Lalit Modi was found guilty of possessing 400 gm of cocaine by a district court in America in 1985.
The petitioner prayed that people with such a criminal background should not be appointed in BCCI.
