Mysore, June 21 (UNI) A team of officials from the Airports Authority of India today categorically told the Mysore district administration that work on the city airport would not be taken up unless the remaining 20 acres of land of the total 175 acres was handed over to it.

Talking to mediapersons after inspecting the airport, AAI Deputy General Manager (Civil) M N N Rao insisted on handing over 175 acres completely with encumbrance clearance as per the memorandum of understanding signed between the Karnataka Government and AAI.

''First we want to start runway work, then work on terminal can be taken up,'' he said, adding that the Mysore-Udhagamandalam highway should be shifted for future expansion of the airport.

The team, including AAI Assistant General Manager (Civil) M Shivaraju and Deputy General Manager (Vigilance) Shyamprasad, inspected the area with the help of the Mysore airport master plan draft.

Deputy Commissioner S Selvakumar, who was present during the inspection, informed Mr Rao that the case had come up for hearing before the High Court today and the State Advocate General himself was appearing in it. He had also discussed the matter with the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board Executive member.
