Fernandes calls on President on Indo-US nuclear deal

New Delhi, June 21 (UNI) NDA convenor George Fernandes today called on President A P J Abdul Kalam close on the heels of the BJP-led alliance submitting a petition accusing the UPA government of misleading Parliament and the nation on the Indo-US nuclear deal.

NDA sources however, said today's meeting with Dr Kalam was a courtesy call and had no political overtones.

The NDA had yesterday submitted its petition signed by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Leaders of Opposition L K Advani and Jaswant Singh, in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha respectively, party president Rajnath Singh and Janata Dal (United) chief Sharad Yadav raising objections to the nuclear deal.
